Paparazzo Sues Spears for Foot Injury

LOS ANGELES (CN) – A former TMZ photographer claims Britney Spears ran over his foot with her Mercedes as she barreled through a crowd of people during her 2007 mental breakdown.

In his Superior Court complaint, Ricardo Mendoza claims Spears assaulted and battered when she ran over his foot in October 2007, hours after she lost custody of her two young sons to now ex-husband Kevin Federline.

Mendoza claims that members of Spears’s entourage knew she was in no shape to drive but failed to stop her from taking the wheel.

According to the TMZ Web site, the company auctioned off Mendoza’s tiremarked sock and gave the proceeds to charity.

The incident happened in a parking structure in Beverly Hills. Mendoza claims his foot was severely injured costing him money from lost work. He also seeks damages for medical expenses, pain and suffering, and attorney’s fees.

Dr. Nirenberg’s Comments:

Mendoza’s seems destined to have the most famous foot injury in history.

The reality is that foot injuries from vehicles driving over the foot are quite common. I have seen many over the years.

With 28 bones in our foot, the range of injuries is staggering. From a simple broken toe to a major crush injury of the heel bone, and even cases of people requiring a partial or complete amputation of their foot.

One has to wonder how much money Mendoza expects to get for his foot injury.

According to the New York Injury Cases Blog the range of settlements and verdicts have been as high as 2.2 million dollars. Of course, in Mendoza’s case one has to wonder if he was standing too close to her car and thereby contributed to his injury.
